Why the home care sector?

Investment in a franchise secures you a business in a box. You gain immediate access to:

Franchise opportunities exist in all sectors, so why choose one in home care?

A growing market

It’s a well-known fact that the UK population is ageing.

  • Around one in five people in the UK is over 65. By 2042, this will increase to one in four
  • The numbers of people aged over 85 – the group most likely to need health and care services – is projected to rise even more rapidly, nearly doubling from 1.4million in 2017 to 2.7 million in 2040
  • Latest ONS figures show that in 2019 there were 13,330 centenarians – 11% up on 2018

The demand for care at home is growing and will continue to grow in line with these numbers.

An essential service with year-round demand

Enabling people to live at home for as long as possible is a fundamental factor in maintaining quality of life – enabling a continued sense of independence, the maintenance of social connections, and the simple comfort of being in one’s own home.

Caring for people in their own homes also lessens the burden on public residential services, so the UK government and NHS actively promote at-home care services.

A home care franchise benefits from all-year-round demand. This creates more consistent human resource demands and cash-flow for the business owner.

In addition, at home care has proven itself to be recession-proof. As an essential service employing essential workers, a home care franchise operates in all economic and civic circumstances.

Meet our management team:

Amrit Dhaliwal, Managing Director

Amrit is the Managing Director of Christies Care franchise. After graduating from Keele University with a degree in History & Economics, he realised very quickly he needed to be in business for himself. In quick succession he transformed an Italian deli in Richmond in Surrey into an award winning Italian restaurant. Then a street away developed a successful tea shop, again recognised with a prestigious local business award. He was able to sell both and invest the profits into several property development sites in London.

At the same time, he developed a well-known domiciliary care franchise in Oxford from a standing start to £1 million turnover over 6 years, developing a valued core team of 70 and winning Franchisee of the Year award. This practical experience has given Amrit clear insight on how to help each franchisee develop their business effectively and reach their goals. Christies Care’s mission is to work with each franchisee using Christies Care’s system to develop a client focused and profitable business.

Carla van Wyk, Head of Operations

Carla joined Amrit in 2019 to help head up the Christies Care Franchise Operation. Skilled at building relationships and developing long-term operational strategies, Carla has worked closely with the Management team to meet company objectives and oversees all documentation of all operations to ensure that consistent, efficient workflows are in place, yielding optimal productivity and performance.

Carla has been very involved in the Franchising legislations and Regulations, specifically the core regulatory aspects that relate to a successful CQC Registration. She has ascertained the types of information and documentation that needs to be in place prior to embarking on each Franchisee’s CQC Registration journey. Carla and her operations team work closely with each Franchisee assisting them with their on-boarding process which includes the full CQC process from application through to CQC interview stage and successful registration.

Carla, a true South African at heart, studied psychology at the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town and moved from South Africa to the UK with her family in 2015. She lives in St Albans with her husband and 2 children. Her strength is the efficiency with which she delivers support to those she serves.

Beyond that, we will:

We can even guide you to source finance to fund the purchase of your franchise.

“The support I received has contributed to the fact that within just three months I was operating a profitable business!”

Cameron Campbell

One-to-one coaching

Crucial to the personal development of our franchisees, fortnightly coaching sessions are provided in the early months. An independent veteran franchise consultant will guide you to reach your business and personal goals.

The systems

You will have access to cutting-edge technology and applications within your daily operations and to access franchisee support. This creates a responsive, efficient, and flexible way of working and allows you to support your care teams and your clients.

New business referrals

Uniquely, you will also receive referrals from us. We find you your clients so you can put your energy into making sure they receive the best care in the market.

Financial performance

You can see a full breakdown of illustrative financials in our brochure, but we would expect a franchisee who follows the Christies Care system and who takes daily action to achieve an annual income of £100,000 within three years.

Our Franchisees

Our franchisees come from a variety of career backgrounds and bring a mix of life-stories. Traits they all have in common are:

Experience of the care sector is not necessary but sharing our values and wanting to run a socially rewarding business is vital.

We’d expect our franchisees to focus their business interest on Christies Care Franchising exclusively, but it’s possible to run multiple franchises across multiple territories.

“Running two branches, I can see no reason not to add a further branch at some stage and to grow the business that way. Christies Care is my future, and will provide for the future of my family, too.”

Cameron Campbell

We provide exceptional support to our franchisees so that their business can deliver outstanding hourly care, but we will always listen to new ideas and suggestions for doing things in another way.

Your success is important to us, so though you will be in business for yourself, you won’t be in business by yourself – you’ll have our support every step of the way.

“The franchise package itself gives you everything you need to run the business well. We all have strengths and skills; we all have weaker areas. Being part of a franchise means you can get support where you need it – you’re not on your own. You can pick up the phone to someone and your life as a business owner is made so much easier.”
