What does a care assistant do?
Working as a home care assistant, you will be visiting people in their own homes on a regular basis providing flexible, person-centred care.
Our carers pride themselves on delivering expert care in a friendly and professional manner, encouraging people’s independence and giving them the confidence to do things themselves so that they can continue to live as they wish in their own home.
Your role as a visiting home care assistant will be varied according to your client but will include:
General welfare checks and companionship – a cup of tea and a chat can really make your client’s day.
Personal care – helping to freshen and maintain personal hygiene, continence management and help with hair and make-up, goes a long way to lifting someone’s spirits and retaining their dignity.
Administering medication – overseeing and ensure clients receive medication at the correct time of day.
Mobility support – we provide essential moving and handling training so carers can operate safely and clients feel secure.
Cooking and housekeeping – light housekeeping and planning and preparation of meals.
Shopping and delivering medication – essential help for those whose physical or mental health restricts their access to the local community.

On successful completion of your interview, our friendly compliance team will look after your application and obtain you documents and references.

You are ready to be booked onto our training programme for hourly carers.

Recruitment FAQs for visiting home care assistants
We provide free training prior to the commencement of your work as a home care assistant with Christies Care. We make sure that you are fully equipped and confident to support any of our clients at home.
Our training course has been devised so that if you are completely new to care, you will learn everything you need to know and if you have experience, that is a bonus.
For those who do have prior experience it is important to recognise that different companies have different policies and it is always beneficial to have a refresher of what you already know before going out to care for your clients.

We do ask that you are happy to work alternate weekends and some evenings as necessary. We have a dedicated team arranging shift patterns and we always try to be flexible. There are always high demand periods and we have to make sure that these are sufficiently covered.
