Christies Care Hourly Home Care Services Help Combat Loneliness In Older People

Christies Home Care Service Provides Essential Connection

Table of Contents

As many people look forward to the lifting of lockdown restrictions and the hope of spending Christmas with loved ones, the number of people affected by chronic loneliness continues to grow. Recent figures published by the Campaign To End Loneliness reveals that there are 9 million people affected by loneliness in the UK and 4 million of these are older people. Evidence suggests that the effects of loneliness can be devastating, leading to an increase in mortality by 26% as well as a higher risk of developing coronary heart disease, depression and cognitive decline including dementia.

Loneliness can creep up on people in later life often caused by bereavement, ill-health and poor mobility as the opportunities to access the local community become reduced and social isolation increases. Coronavirus has of course had an even bigger impact on this growing issue making it much harder to ease the problem.

Domiciliary care provides relief and support for older people who are isolated and lonely. Having a live-in or hourly carer paying regular visits in their home offers support and companionship for those in need. Christies Care has been providing specialist home care for over 30 years and is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Our award-winning services are tailored according to individual needs and our flexible care plans are delivered by highly-trained carers who are dedicated to enhancing the lives of their clients in surroundings they are happy and familiar with.

We offer both hourly and live-in care services providing around-the-clock care or regular assistance as little or as often as you need it. We are committed to offering comfort and companionship – whether it’s specialist care, mobility support or an extra pair of hands to keep your home in order, help with grocery shopping and medication or to prepare and cook meals – a Christies Carer provides essential support and connection for older people in need of extra help at home.

Our carers are carefully selected to be compatible with our clients to ensure they enjoy one another’s company whilst being expertly cared for with kindness and compassion and treated with dignity and respect. So many of our clients’ families tell us they are amazed by the positive benefits that having live-in or hourly care has had on their loved ones. Knowing elderly parents and relatives are happy and being cared for and supported safely provides invaluable peace of mind for families.

If you or your loved one would benefit from some extra help at home call our care team on 01728 605107 to discuss your needs or arrange a free assessment. We would be happy to connect you with some of our existing clients and their families so you can speak directly to someone in our care and understand how Christies Care is helping make a difference in their lives.
